Right, normally you'd get told to use the Search function as this has all been covered a million times before but because I'm nice I'll cover things briefly for you....

I assume you're wanting to know this info in planning an engine conversion yeah?

F7P is the 1.8 16v engine found in Renault 19 and Clio 16v's.

F7R is the 2.0 16v engine found in the Williams and Megane Coupe (the Williams is coded F7R-700 and the Megane version coded F7R-710)

The bottom end from a Williams will slot onto a 1.8 cylinder head, however the bottom end from a Megane will require you to use the 1.8 flywheel.

Although the Williams and the Megane make the same power, the Megane engine is better because of the smaller ports it has (cannae remember why though!)

Williams engines fetch a lot more in the ads purely on name value, although they are more 'plug and play' friendly than the Megane.

If you want to use a complete Megane engine in your Mk.1 Clio or a 19 then you'll need to do one of three things:

1. Fool the Megane ECU into thinking there's no airbag or immobiliser present
2. Fit the Megane dashboard to utilise the loom without problem
3. Machine the Megane cylinder head to accept a distributor cap

I think the majority of that is right but there's plenty of others on here who will correct me if I'm wrong!

There's two chaps I suggest you speak to - Mick (goes under the forum name 'MicKPM') and Stan (stan) who have both used the Megane engine but Mick followed route 2 above while Stan has gone down route 3.

Hope this helps mate.
