I have a Renault 19 16V and it has seemed it was like running on 3 cylinders. I pulled the spark plug leads out of the plug holes and noticed rusty coloured water sitting down in the holes. Also the water level is down. Is this a sign of something serious like head gasket gone. There dosnt seem to be any water in the oil as there is no sign of milk. Any advice please. Question

im assuming its a ph1 with the water in the wells, however it could be a core plug that is in there, pull your rocker cover off and see if all of the core plugs that sit near the plugs are intact.

common problem on the ph1

its misfiring due to water in the plug well, it comes in thru the bonnet vent when it rains and collects over time, give it a good clean down there, then i would suggest also checking your spark plugs, give them a good clean up too and your HT leads, check them for perishing.
