Hi,
I bought a Renault Clio 1.4 RT about a year ago, the car didn't come with the Remote Locking key. My sister used to own a Renault Clio 1.2 RN until it was written off but she still has the Remote locking key, is there any way of 'pairing' the key with the car, I have both the Inginition key number and Remote locking control code, not sure if this is possible.

Also, I replaced my brake pads a few months ago but the braking on my Clio is still quite poor, if I'm travelling along and I slam my foot on the brake it does brake sharply unless I want to brake to a stop, then it just gradually slows down, I drove my sister's Megane which has extremely sharp brakes compared to mine, any idea's what the problem could be?

One final question, my Clio slides very easily in the wet, for example, approaching a junction if I brake a little too heavy then it slides straight away, quite scary, is this normal for a Clio or are they just rubbish tyres, or something else?

Thanks for your help Smile

If its a ph1/ph2 clio then take the receiver out of the 1.2 and the plippy bit of the key fob (undo the screw and pull the key out of it) and put it in your 1.4, should work then.

I assume you have bendix front brakes, then this is normal they are borderline when new and in perfect condition, they are utter shite. Gte a set of girlings on there.

Get decent tyres.

Hi Nabraxas and welcome.

Somebody will correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think you can pair another key remote with your car. If your car is already equipped with remote locking you will be able to get a new remote from renault, this will however cost a fortune.
Your best option (if you can) is get hold of the receiver from your sisters car which just plugs in by the interior light, and then plug it straight in place of yours.
If thats not an option then try www.partsgateway.co.uk and request the key remote & receiver, should cost about £15 for both.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies; I can't actually get the receiver out of my sister's old Clio because it's now been turned into a Heinz beans can. Laughing

I'll request both parts from that website and I'll have a look around the scrapyards to see if there's any Clio's about.

I haven't got any alloy wheels on at the moment so I'll get some new tyres when I buy some alloys, gives me a good excuse. Wink

Cheers for your help
