I've been having another play with the car and having put my new fog light loom on and cleaned up the connectors both my fogs are working once more. 
Problem is that they are getting too much currant! They go super bright and start to smoke. (next stage is to pop so I turn off the fogs)
I have put a smaller fuse in the box and the same thing happens, can anyone shed some light on the situation please? (no pun intended  ) |

put an inline resistor, is the way i would go. |

i dont think that does solve the problem at all does it dan?
are you sure you are using the right rating bulbs docs ? they should not be doing that |

exactly schaks, it never did that from the factory so it shoudln;t do it now!
where does th esmoke come from? |

I was thinking more about what would cause it in the first place mate.
However your solution would no doubt sort it, if you knew what size resistor to use? |

Use a variable resistor, can vary the current then till its just right |

Chris the smoke is cumming from the bulb itself. I think its the filiment starting to burn itself out. |

don't think so but it's possible.
Hallogen bulbs dont like that do they?
Should I wipe them clean and see what happens? |

aye gie them a wipe. they normally go bang if you touch them. |
