Can anyone remember this video? Honda Civic and they attach a leaf blower to it and get an extra 10bhp or something?

Well how would the car actually run like that? Normal every day driving sorta thing. Like fair enough, 1 min blast on a rolling road it seemed okay, but wouldn't all that extra forced air upset things? Would the ECU be able to compensate that well? Wouldn't all that rushing air only be of any use at full throttle? Like when ur just crawling along and the throttle's only open a bit, how would the car react to all that air being forced in?

Stupid questions I know, I'm just bored & curious! Laughing

As far as I remember the ECU can see a certain amount of positive pressure but you can remap them and get bigger injectors anyway, there's loads of stuff from the states for them.

That leaf blower isnt enough to create positive pressure in the inlet anyway, just less of a vacuum, so map wouldnt be a problem.

Also, the leaf blower is basically just a fan, nowhere near being a positive displacement blower, so it cant really 'force' the air into the inlet in the same way a proper turbo or supercharger can.

In fact, at the upper end of the rev range, i think the leaf blower will act as a restriction to the engine intake, it just cant move that volume of air.

they were also squirting extra fuel through the leaf blower.

That was NOS they were spraying in there, which accounts for the power increase, rather than the blowing of air by the leaf blower.
