After countless events of me nearly smashing into the back end of muppets, and endless whinging from occupants in my car, I think it may be just the right time to change the front disks and pads on my car (don't think the disks have ever been changed).

I've had a few quotes from places for them, I was even advised by someone to ask what Renualt want for the brakes. I think I will ignore that advice. Best price I've had up to now is from Andy Spares, 30 quid all in. Seems about right to me. They're doing some disks called Brembo Max for 16 quid each, might consider them if they're any good.

Seeing as I finish early today I'll go and have a look.

Another great useless post from me

motorfactor, PMF.

Apec discs and ferrodo pads, ok truth be told I had the pads for the white 19, but they cost me a tenner.

Could have got cheaper discs but ewhats the point if they wear out quicker?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking, but I might be getting shut in may so really it don't matter.

But then again I might not be, been looking at a few cars that would be alright for me. Going to have a look at a Punto 1.2 Sporting, I'm well prepared to be unimpressed however.

Got some for £24 in the end, BMS motor spares. They're not ferrodo or owt but I ain't keeping for long anyway.

I Fitted em in the end, here's your story of the day!

Passenger side was a treat no problem at all. Pulled wheel off, took little bit of wire out and nocked out the rod thing (Fuck knows what it's called) and pulled out the old shitty pads. Removed Caliper with the two 19mm bolts at the back which were no trouble at all. Took the 2 very easy to remove torx screws and put the new disc back. Everything went together really well after I found the right pair of pads for that side, for some reason they're different for the other side? Anyway passenger side was easy, not a problem. My mate adjusted them while I sat in the car pressing the brake.

Driver's side... Once looking at it, I realised I put the rod in the wrong way on the passenger side, bollocks! Anyway The 2 bolts holding the caliper on just wouldn't budge, pissed them through with WD and still nothing. Gave it 20 mins for WD to do it's work. Came back and they come undone easier. Now the big problem, the Torx screws. One came out no problem but the other one just wouldn't budge. found my cheap set of torx bits (My so called "Good set" didn't have the size I wanted) and used that. I'm a T40 Torx short now, snapped off right at the bottom. Almost straight away. I really couldn't be arsed messing with it in rain and started twatting the disc in a bid to losen it somewhat. It didn't seem work, but made lots of noise to which a neighbour hung out of her window screaming. At which point it started pissing down, so just carried on in my bid to losen the disc, she wasn't impressed. Now back to trying the cheap T40 bit as I didn't have another one, Just made a mess of the screw even more, went round to my brothers for one, luckily he had one. Went back to the car to try and remove this fucking arse of a screw, tried a new idea of hammering the thing in, worked a treat! Caliper was a bit of an arse but the pads fitted in the end. put everything back together and drove off for a test.

Drivers side was clunking

Checked the wheel, it wasn't the wheel as that was tight, pulled the wheel off everything seemed fine, except.... I hadn't tightened the bolts enough on the caliper. Sorted that out and sorted the other side out aswell.

After that everything went fine, not a problem at all, give the brakes a while to bed in.

lol on the bendix brakes you don't need to remove the caliper to swap the discs, just slide it forward and tilt the disc.
