i remember JB ,taking them apart and he was on about changing a few bits on them which i believe do affect the function of the front suspension
now i noticed this on my struts ,the bit marked in red is missing on the other strut ,looks like a rubber bush . is it an important bit or just there for the llooks ?

its the bump stop. If you bottom out the suspension, that bit of rubber will absorb the impact instead of bashing the strut harshly, which will obviously then be trasmitted to the rest of the car.
Its kind of good to have it there, though i suppose not essential! |

should be there as should the gaiter which is on neither, don't expect it to last long. |

so basicly the springs need to be taken out and the missing parts need replacing ?????
i was not very happy with the job either to be honest
yes the gaiter are missing but i am sure i can fabricate something using some flexi plastic/rubber and cable ties
mind you i have a 16v strut on the car at the moment ,i am sure i can nick bits of that one for the good cause as well |
