managed to get 420miles with 50quid of unleaded fuel ,is it too bad for a r19 1.8rt (SPI) ? i have no clue what this equals to as MPG ,it comes to over 9 lts for 100kms sounds a bit high to me ? how many miles/kms do you guys manage ? i know fuel consumption depends on alot of things.
by the way i usually drive my car to work and back which is 8 miles and back everyday/night.
cheers

I get 100 miles on £10 in my 1.8rt which is about 36mpg - seems to do that whether I'm driving about town or motorway crusing or ragging it about the country lanes.

Hey schakal - not too many 1.8rts around are there - is yours a Chammy or a hatch?

Mines basically standard except for the spoiler and Clio 'turbine' alloys.

Thinking of a decat myself - the cats been ripped apart somewhat after going through several rally stages Very Happy

Not really sure what's available for the 1.8spi engine apart from filters and the like - for any serious mods I'd be inclined to swap it for a better engine in the first place, but for now it serves me well enough.

Chris,

I'm not far from Cameron Toll - well that's where I live, right now I'm at work which is your side of the country, at the Skypark by the SECC.

Real cross-cultural stuff Very Happy

red19rt , my car is a black hatch ,i like to have 5 doors somehow ,2/3 doors does not appeal to me .i have a spoiler too,got it for a tenner and sprayed it,these cars look nice with spoilers.i bought some leather look seat covers with head rests and all ,they look better than i expected .you are quite right ,these cars perform quite well really but i would do better with an extra 10-15bhp myself.
if i go for a valver someday i would definitely buy the chammy and has to be either black or red . i am thinking of decat too mate but not sure yet if i have to change the back box as well in order to perform better and of course these are mods are not so cheap either. do you have difficulties finding parts for your car too ,i have the cataloque of GSF car parts athome but cant see many parts for my car in there .
well its good to know you mate ,we can share info in the future about cars when things go pear shaped(hope not )
cheers

I used to own a 16 valver in jet black. Ive been hunting for some pics for ages ill have to post them as son as i find them!!

My 16v was de-cat, that's cause some numpty. namely my father in law decided to hoof it over a field and buggered it up on a hump!! He used to own it.

He was a Rally driver in his past and what he did to it he never let on, To this day he says " I aint telling ya!!". Maybe this is because i let it slip that i did 146mph past a copper on the M65. The little bugger!!

Hes just said that i can have his Astra GTE for 200 quid when he gets his jeep at the end of this year!! OH YES.. here i come, thing is he aint done any work to the damn thing this time!!!!! Guess ill be doin 20mph!!! But its the dogs balls, cat 1 alram, stainless steel exhaust, etc etc, bought it off his mate who thinks he can rally but would be better off in bangers as keeps wrapping his cars round the nearest tree!
