Enjoy it while it lasts guys.

Anyone else interested in/know about 'peak oil'?' Been doing a lot of reading on the whole thing recently

An overview of 'peak oil':

Here's one good video I've seen that touches on a lot of the issues (25 minutes long, but a very interesting watch):

And here's a somewhat doomy view of the future:

too much wastage in all areas, i would happily dump my old engine oil off in a collecting point, but why should i have to pay to do it when oil companies make hugggggggge profits?????

I already dump all fluids at the local dump, as should everyone else.

The tanks there are taken away and I assume contents are incinerated. Theres all sorts in them though, brake fluid, oil, cookign fat etc etc

Ah, but there's the rub!

In collecting/transporting the used oil, and powering your refining process, how much more oil/energy do you use? More than the amount of re-refined oil you get out. Environmentally, what's the advantage of doing that?

Theres a refinery on average within 100 miles of any given city. The council itself has to transport and get rid of these liquids itself.

So theres gonna be money in it somewhere.

Yes, economically it is viable, but environmentally it is pointless if not worse
