As above, i bought a 1.8 16v clio mk1 engine.
I put most of it back together and have it in my clio now mostly connected up but i'm having a few probs figuring out what goes where.

Map sensor? Which hose fits on? i have a good idea but the hose i thought it might be, is huge! Cant be that one.

Has anyone got any big decent pictures of an engine bay?

also a fuel line question, i had a 1.4 SPI engine in before. which used rubber fuel hose.
the valver lump uses reinforced hose.
i have connected the hose using a joiner. should i run a new fuel line using all reinforced hose to be on the safe side or not bother?

Cheers

The MAP sensor connected via a small bore vacuum hose that comes of the end of a hard piece of pipe that is bolted to 2 of the cambelt cover fixings. The other end of this then goes into the inlet manifold. I may have a picture of this one my digi camera, but that is round my parents. If you are still having problems, I'll dig it out.

I personally would use the re-inforced hose, it must be there for a reason and you can't mess about with fuel. I have a spare set if you are interested, they are in good condition with no splits. PM me if you are interested.

the hose is on the drivers side of the engine for the MAP pipe, the metal pipe rins across the camcover, inlet man end is a short 90 degree pipe and the longer rubber pipe from the exhaust side to the map sensor bracket.

I have to say using a joiner if its the correct type (liek the ones I used in the scrapheap project) are ok because they are real fuel pipe joiners and have bits that bite into the hose.

I'll take one of my old 16v engine for you, you'll be able to see where it goes.

I'll post it up tomorrow night.

Got stuck for 3 hours with the trains tonight, so haven't been round my parents to take pictures as I'm knackered, cold and thoroughly fucked off!

I'll do them tomorrow night.

Sorry man.

i had half hour today to have a good look.

I have an "evaporative canister?" which has two hose's.

one i think i'm right in thinking is the fuel tank return.
the other goes where?

i think it should join up to some kind of "T" piece, is that right?

The metal pipe which runs around the right hand side of the camcover has on it a big fuel hose which has been cut. Does that go straight to the MAP sensor?

erm sounds that way, a fuel hose is th ewrong hose to use though!

yes it will either go to another port ont he manifold or a T piece which is m,issing if the proper pipe has been swapped for a petrol hose.

i think i'll have a look at whatever pictures i can, then take some hoses etc of my 1.4 engine.

the haynes manual is shit, don't show enough.

the other pipe i mentioned from the canister.
Can anyone confirm where it goes to?
