I've had my 1991 1.8 16v for a while now and coped with its temperamental habits. The car loses power when you start to drive it cold. The first 60-120 secs its fine and then it does a little power loss/cutting out at junctions and then is fine once warm. It doesn't do that the rest of the day unless you leave it to cool down. On days where it has been over about 25 degrees it doesn't do this. It also has an intermittant nasty habit of cutting out/losing power round right hand bends only. Odd and very annoying. Any ideas?

need a new coolant temp sender and the cutting out is due to dodgy wiring somewhere, only issue is it can be anywhere from the tank loom to the main feed wire shorting on the alternator etc

Hi that was quick. No noises and the right hand turn cutting out happens even when warm. I understand the previous person had it up to reno and had all types of sensors replaced with no joy. I will get that sensor checked and the wiring does sound fun. The wierd thing is if the car doesn't cut out/lose power when it is cold then it doesn't cut out round the bends either could be coincidence but going to try the suggestions. Cheers.

i had this cutting out problem all wires are fine changed two off my three mounts, fixed i think it mainl due to the gearbox mount begin torn in half as when you chucked it right it would cut out

now i can put it on a decent lock and nail the fuck out of it

not saying it will be the same but its worth getting the mount out and checking it

Thumbs Up!

well, that almost sounds like it's the wiring for said temp sender being dodgy, doesn't it!?
