Can anyone do a guide or tech atricle about how to get the gearbox off without taking the engine out? I've done it with the engine out, but looks almost impossible with it in. The clutch in my TD needs looking at seeing is it makes a whirring noise when in neutral and when the clutch pedal is relased.

Cheers

when i can be arsed. When you lot start paying to milk my knowledge from me then I will get a wriggle on.

Basically support the engine with a jack under the sump block of woord on the top to protect the sump). Drain the box oil.

Remove both driveshafts, the gear linkage rod, unbolt the rear and front box mounts undo the box fromt he engine and pull towards the passenger side when its off you'll know cos its a bit heavy but not that heavy then lift it up and out of the engine bay.

Do you need to mess with the subframe?

you can if you want. droppignm it gives more room to fiddle but also more hassle.

The box is the same physical size on all the 19's thus it sits in the same place, the box can be removed seperate to the engine on all models despite what others say.

Yes I am.

Well I am pretty sure I could do it.

Of course its a damn sight easier if you just humf the engine out.

Takes about 5 mins then.

yes loosen the pinch bolt or batter the wheel back down.

Pinch bolts the clever option.
