our resident german Christian may be able to sort this out.

Is it true that due to new legislation in Germany its now illegal to handwash your car, instead you have to go to a car wash so the water can be recycled?

I read it in Pro motor mech (trade mag), so I'd imagine its true but it seems a bit far fetched.

it would but then again theres plenty of goody two shoes around so they would grass them in.

I suppose thers a sense to it but then again it removes the pride you get from doing it yourself.

Could be seen like the hosepipe ban that happened a few years back in England.

not that I know of.

these things are mostly governed by local by-laws, so they differ from area to area. what is forbidden everywhere is washing your car on a public street and using any kind of chemicals for it. pure water is allowed in most cases.
I do it all the time and never got any problems.

some cities don't allow using public roads to do maintainance jobs on cars, such as changing the oil for example.

I've also never heard of that "no washing on Sunday" rule.... maybe that only applies to Bavaria Wink
