some of you may be interested in that site.

A few of you have travelled it to see me a few times so may be of interest to you.

My mum remember when the motorway was being built, she also remembers the compulsary purchase orders handed to her friends parents who were very underpaid for their homes which were demolished and they were rendered homeless.

My mother and father were actually married in a church which was closed a week after the wedding and demolished after for the east bound M73 sliproad. The church is where the road not passes over.

The site on concentrates ion a small area of glasgow city centres M8. The roads and foot bridges to nowhere are still there, in fact a few have been knocked down since I was a child. I remember a few more of them that have new buldings on them.

it was probably me tbh.

When I think how many times I have done stupid speeds (depending on the car like the cossie well over double the national limit) I am amazed I am still here.

Only took doc to a sedate 138 mph on the M8 on the quieter ends.

The M8 is a wonderfull road, 5 or so years ago it had about half the traffic on it just now.

I mind I used to average the ton on it all the the way through. Now you lucky to get near to 80 anywhere near the city.

Soneji and I used to race along it all the time, funniest thing ever was soneji, I just got his clio going, headign back to glasgow doing 90, I slowed down and flashe dhim to slo as there was the 40mph zone on the A8 section around uddingston, he never slowed, got flashed by the camera at 90 odd mph, nothing ever came through though.

Got load sof M8 stories, the 1.4 19, sonejis clio and a mitso evo 4 was a classic, basically I was in the outside lane, soneji had undertaken a car in the middle lane, this evo saw us came tanking on ahead of us looking at us (we were avoiding undue hesitation at this time), I slowed down slightly let soneji sweep from the inside lane to the outside and I done the opposite, we passed each other ont he middle lane then we both done the same ahead of this evo. think that saab ballet vid. The evo driver then slowed down and pulled into the inside lane, classic.

i had an evo crash right in front of me as you come off the m73 onto the m8, basicly where the m73 spilits, go left for the m74 or right for the m8, the evo was in the left hand lane, realised he wanted the m8, sped up, cut across several lanes of traffic, darted back in from the fast lane to the middle lane to avoid shunting someone up the arse and hit a wet patch, causing him to spin, he was doing pretty well controlling it as well, but his arse end just clipped the central reservation sending him spinning back out again into traffic and he got side swiped twice.
No injuries, just about 5 messed up cars!

best one I saw at the m8 - 73 was westbound, a taxi (black hack) had spun and somehow gone over the top of the railings ont he grass facing east! lol He looked very confused

don't suppose you english lot heard of the stupid bint that jumped out of a care on the m8 at J27 the other week. She lost her arm, it was ripped off at the socket.

nope, did not hear about that one, but i've been in several long jams on the M1, one was when some guy from Leeds ended up in the middle of the m1, got hit by several cars, it was close to a bridge as well, but from the news, he was so badly disfigured, they could not work out if he had jumped from the bridge then got hit, or had simply wandered out into the motorway then got hit.
Apparently he had been hit by at least 10 cars!

then again on the m1, some girl had jumped off a bridge, straight into the path of a 38 tonner! ended up killing herself and the driver of the lorry as she went thru his windscreen killing them both on impact!

scarey stuff really!

theres a lot of wee neds that steal bikes and throw them off the motorway foot bridges, a lot of cameras have gone up recently to stop this or at least get a warnign of it.

About 10 years back ont he kingston bridge, you know how high it is, on the east bound carriageway there was heavy winds, arctic got blown over the side. They reckon he was dead before hitting the water. The wind was so strong it was blown 200 feet down river apparently.

yeah i know how high that is! not a nice way to go.

I think all footbridges over motorways should have self closing gates on either end, with the only way of opening them is to have your picture taken.

It's not like they don't have cameras every where else these days!

Of course it wont stop everyone from being a yob and throwing stuff off bridges but it may deter a good number of them too.
