Ok people, everything been fine on my car since my starter motor problem til bout 10mins ago, was driving back from my girlfriends, when as i went to change gear, i heard a loud kinda bang and suddenly my clutch pedal just hit the ground and wouldn't come back up, i managed to ram the gear lever into second which got me home( very slowly), but the clutch pedal just stayed on the floor of the car, as i said i can get the car in gear, but i had to ram it in!

Any idea's, i guessing the clutch cable, but im sure you guys have a better idea!

Cheers lads

Jimmy

Yep. I once had to drive home a 21 with a snapped cable. I could get it to change gears but obviously it didn't specially like it. Fortunately it wasnt my car!

Cable isn't too bad a job, had it done three times on my Clio.

Yup sounds like cable, had the same happen to me last week. Change is fairly easy and cable is £22 tops from renault and about £15 from GSF. Hardest part for me was getting it to go through the little loop on the top of the pedal itself.

Or it could be the clutch pedal itself.

The plastic ratchet on my clutch pedal snapped and i had the same thing, pedal went to the floor and of course unable to change gears.
Mine went on me in the middle of london so had to drive it (45 miles) without a clutch, you get used to changing gear without a clutch after a while, time it just right and you can go up and down the box with no need to use the clutch, althou london traffic lights are a pain, i caught every single red light so its engine off, stick it into first and wait for lights to go green, then start her up in gear and off she goes lol

there, you can see where it snapped, right where the clutch cable is retained

The ratchet teeth can let go also.

Had it on the Clio.

You should grease them.

You have a lot of teeth on the cable bit, but only three or so on the pedal.
