Its right hurting my back doin these bolts all most as difficult as sump plugs......(wait for it)

soo am i right in assuming following the haynes book of lies on this is spot on ? as ive only angle tightened to 107 degrees which doesnt seem that tight and next stage is running the engine and then ive gotta crack the bastards off again! then theres 19 more stages!! am i defo doing this right?

also how exactly can one check the tension of the cambelt ? im mean other than moving it up and down a few mm then repeating the words " yeah she seems bout right not touch much play and i cant twist it much either lets start it and see"

on the 19 i just moved it a few mm either way and it seemed bout right you know and its lasted 2 year so cant be too bad a job eh but id like not too break my meggy any more than i already have

chris had pc problems.

that head sequence is wrong as you do not run the engine crack them off then re-tighten.

107 degrees is correct, same sequence as on the 19.

Autodata are generally good for a lot of stuff but theres things they do which are totally wrong.

Do that if you want but the only cars that shoudl ever need ran then the head loosened and re-tightened are cars with cast iron heads.

1st stage is there to settle the gasket, the 2nd stage should be it tightened and done.

I would just leave it but its up to you.

hmm will it hurt doing it ? i mean technically we is at 107 already having done up to the running engine stage, yesterday i got the zorst gasket and zorst manifold with the whole engine in on somefink i didnt enjoy luckily theres a bit more room than on the 19!!

ive got a few pipes to put on gotta re fit the mounts and loom and make sure all levels are filled up then shes ready to turn on i bet shes gunna tap like anything!!

i kinda guessed the angle of tightening should i defo defo defo go and get a angle thingy and do it properly its defo around 107 we was like thats 90 little bit more 107 hehe what ya reckon ????

I use a bit of cardboard to do angle stages.

But tbh I am at the stage where I can feel when its right.

When its angle tightened right it feels it and theres a bit of spring back from the bolt.

If its done right then it shouldn't hurt it.
