Having had the head of the 16V skimmed I am now sticking it all back together. I bought a 25+VAT head gasket form the local autoparts place, then people start telling me it will be no good and wouldn't even last until the end of the road etc.
The make is BGA - British gaskets group, the packaging (amusingly) is green, white and yellow, is this any good or should I throw it back?
Also should the gasket be deeper as well as a higher quality? |

if you put the thing together properly it will more than likely be fine. Gasket thickness will be the same, don't bother tryign to source a thicker one unless you have had a lot taken off the head face. |

ive used non-renault gaskets for years, and never had a problem with them blowing. alwyas worked 100% fine for me. i think theres certain standards companies have to meet in order to sell gaskets, so there wudnt be a problem of it being equal quality to the OE part.

Yeah mine was from BB tuning (listed as uprated - yeah whatever), but was just a generic brand one. |
