I had some new toys arrive on Friday so I started to dismantle one of the heads in my shed.

My plan is to try and port/polish it but I also want to put bigger valves in.

Does anyone know what size valves can be used and if the guides have to be changed to do this?

Should have got one off e-bay mate. I figured I'd need one for rebuilding the bottom end.

The valve spring compressor was a tad pricey for an e-bay buy but I needed it. £26 + P&P

Considering That I haven't done the job before and my computer at home is knackered (which stops me coming on here to ask questions in the middle of a job) I thought it would be prudent to have some reference to the task in hand.

At what point did it become stupid to buy a Haynes manual guys?
OK we can do most of the jobs in there with our eyes closed but it’s still a useful reference.

If I put these 35mm valves in do I have to change the guides?
can I use the normal 16v stem seals or do I need larger ones?
