I've been quoted £409 by 2 different garages, for replacing my heater matrix, which is obviously more than I would like to spend! If I'm spending that much, I want at least an extra 20bhp Razz lol.

Anyway, symptoms are: When I put the heat dial to it's hottest, and open the vents, I get hot air (not as hot as it's meant to be though) and it just gradually gets colder & colder until it is.......um......cold. So I get about 5 seconds or less of hot air. That's the confusing thing, I DO get SOME hot air........so it's like not COMPLETELY fucked? I dunno. So yeah, it seems like something is blocked etc.......I have no idea really. Me & a mate are gonna have a look at it on the weekend, try flushing it out etc and was just checking to see if anyone has any advice for me before I do it? Like "for fuck sake don't do it that way" or "nooooooo, u don't wanna do that" y'know, cuz I know nothing!

Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers guys Very Happy

i would put my money on lots of shit in the system , i would run some sort of cleaning agent in the system for a week before i go for the flush , and have the system pressure washed to get all the crap out . remove all hoses possible and run pressurised water through . improved my heater quite noticebly .
