Hi chaps,

Winter is here and unfortunatley I thought that renaults were renowned for their heaters??? However, since I have not faced a winter in my phase 2 16valve I was shocked when I stuck on the blowers and got only luke warm air even when the car was running very hot. The air flow is fine and powerful so do I have a problem or are the heaters just nor so good?

If it is not right any ideas as to what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

I think everyone on here has had this problem at some point with their heater. I have just fixed mine after 10 months on luke warm air.

The first port of call is to check for an air lock in the system. Flush the collant out and use a hose to flush the heater matix to get any rusty crud that has accumilated in it (beleive me there will be a lot).
Change the thermostat as well while the system in empty, to eliminate that being a problem.
Then fill the cooling system back up with the car facing up a slope (as steep as you can get it preferably) making sure all bleed screws are open and closed when the coolant is coming out bubble free.

If this doesn't work then it is probable that the matrix is beyond repair and you will need a new one (that's what mine needed). They are a bit og a git to change as the dash has to come out but it's worth it for a warm car in winter Smile

Having the same problem here. I'm going to flush all the coolant out of mine tomorrow, fix the pipe that's leaking near the themostat, fill it up with water and give it a run through and keep doing that until it comes out clear; if that doesn't solve it then I'll just keep a jumper in my car. Flushed the system yesterday, the coolant which came out wasn't that bad to be honest; it still only blows warm air though.. heater matrix? If so, I'll wear a coat Wink

Yeah probably then, If the cars temp is good and fan goes on with the right temp their ain't much left... I did my system today and it was just brown stuff which didn't even smell a little of coolant so it probably wasn't or had been in it for so damn long. Now it's nice and clear for a while and i've got heating again Very Happy which is very nice Razz

It's working, yay, no more freezing driving home from work; it seems attacking it with a hose pipe worked, reverse flush, forward, reverse, etc.
