what sort of knocking noise? how loud is it? can you tell roughly where it is coming from by sticking your head in the engine bay while it is doing it?

when u drove home did it feel any different? lack of power? could u feel the knocking ?

sounded like it was coming from the top of the engine, slight loss of power maybe, but i wasn't givin it any after it cut out, sounded more like a tapping?

Sounds like what happened to my old Phase 1..

Can never remeber what exactly the problem was, Chris will know as he stripped the engine afterwards, think it could have been a piston though.

nah never stripped the engine yet ben.

Bens prob was the engine ran for 10 misn then siexed solid. 10 mins later it freed off and could be driven for another 10 mins.

His knocked over 2krpm.

I looked at the bores but they didn't have any evidence of pistons pickign up on the bores which is what I thought caused it.

Anywya check the oil and water levels, then see what the oil pressure gauge says.

If the oil pressure has dropped a fair bit then a a bearing has gone.

how fast is the knock? engine speed half engine speed

every mechanic says it sounds like something else???

it sounds louder at the back of the engine cant tell if in head or middler of engine, not from the bottem im sure,

have oil pressure, idles hot @ about 10 oclock, then goes 1030 between 3-4k, dont want to take her any higher at the mo

just done a flush new oil and hydrolic lifter additive with my fingers crossed, hasn't made a difference yet

been quoted £700 for little ends!!!!

700 quid for the small ends? not sure what they are plannin on doing there as the small end bearings are integral with the conrods, so a complete engine strip down and new conrods would be needed...for 700 quid thats a bargain...but i think they dont know what they are on about.

everythings repairable.

If its a spun bearing then chances are there is secondary damage.

Bear in mind another engine is under 200 quid matey.
