I am probably renowned for my dumb ass questions on here by now lol, but I'm gonna ask anyway. Something is holding my car back. Doesn't feel as quick as it used to be, and is possibly getting worse. Seems to make a lot of noise, but not go anywhere sorta thing. By 'a lot of noise' I just mean acceleration noise, not 'nasty' noises like rattling or anything. Sounds like ur accelerating hard, but goes as if you haven't really got ur foot all the way down sorta thing. I thought it'd be clutch slipping cuz that makes perfect sense, but me & mate agreed that it'd be absolutely stinkin of burning clutch if it was slipping, and I probably wouldn't be going very far at all. Is it possible for a clutch to be slipping VERY SLIGHTLY, and the car still be generally okay to drive? I just went to overtake something earlier and was surprised at how NOT quickly it did it. Usually nips around things SO quick like. I thought I was in the wrong gear for a minute, but nope I was okay. Is there an engine sensor or something that could cause it to run shit if it was knackered? My fuel pump is a noisy fucker, could that be getting a bit tired and pumping a bit slow? Any ideas?

Hmm hadn't thought of that. Are there better ones than the standard one available? Or just whack a standard one in?

I have changed it since I bought the car. Probably just over a year ago, so about 12,000 miles ago(ish)? Do they need changing that often?

if its new thats not your problem. Its not unusual for new ones to collapse but they normally do it pretty quickly.

Make sure theres no leaky breathe rpipes or anything.

Does it feel like a fuel starvation problem to you? Does it make you wanna pull the choke out?

if you want an expensive but decent filter get a cosworth gold. Used to be a DFV filter but they put a gold plated cover on it and its used in NASCAR. think its about 170 quid a pop.

Feels like fuel starvation yeah. You've probably heard my long & boring story about my fuel pump & fuel tank before, and I'm convinced it's something to do with that. The car sounds normal, like it's goin for it........somethin just restricting it like.

did I not say before pop the pump out and make sure the mesh on the bottom is clear?

Thast what fecked the original pump on my chamade, when I got it it was bloody loud, poopped the pump out, rusty flakes all over the mesh on the pickup, it was starving it and caused it to burn out eventually.

I am useless with things like that, I just don't have the knowledge or tools or anything to be able to 'pop' the pump out lol. That is a garage job for me I'm afraid Rolling Eyes Well, think so anyway. Haven't really looked at how to do it. I mentioned to a guy at my local renault dealer about my noisy pump and he said there is a mesh thing that he could completely take off the pump, cuz the fuel filter further down will do the filtering sorta thing.

thats what I'm talking about and as usual the renault man is a fucking retard.

if you take it off instead of gettign trapped int eh mesh it will go through the pump siezing it at worst and scorign the rollers and makign it lose pressure and capacity at best.
