It was payday today so I filled my tank to full….bad idea.

I’ve got home and discovered it’s leaking petrol on the ground under the fuel tank at the rate of one drop every 5 seconds.

Anyone got any quick fix suggestions? I’ve heard about stuff you can put in the tank to seal it.

Its difficult to see where its leaking from, but its wet above the tank neck.

Can I make it safe by putting something underneath the leak?

Help

You could possibly try some generic silicone sealant as a temp fix untill you've used up the fuel so you can sort a more permenant solution..

Thanks all, hope the leak stops before too much petrol goes out.

silicone will react with the petrol and not set....as will anything else you try.

you could wait till its empty/lower, clean the area thoroughly, and then try some epoxy resin

i believe you can actually weld a tank.

You must be 100000000 percent sure that you purge it properly before hand.

epoxy resin sounds good.

you can weld anything. Various ways to do it, fill with water, so any pop is quenched straight away, exhaust fumes purged into it (they do this on tankers to prevent expolisions).

Anyway tank seal crap never works, I wouldn;t fill it all the way, easy solution. They corrode on the top and also at the seam.

Solution realistically is a new tank.
