Excellent Web site - if only my car worked as well.
I own 1996 Megane from new and for the last 5 years i've inputting the code manually to start the car. Renault wanted to replace the Ubic box costing several hundred quid which i refused as i believe that as the electronics are not a wear & tear item and they should last the lifetime of the car.
I read through the technical section regarding the immobiliser and re-synching the keys. So out i went last Monday morning to give it a try and to my amazement it worked. But it only worked for one whole day and then failed completely. I tried to re-synch the keys again but no joy. I,ve checked the keys using the camera and they are working and the IR receiver is dry.
So I am back to square one of inputting the code manually.
My question is how can it work for one day only after 5 years, surely the electronics either fail completely or work. Any suggestions?

Are we talking 100's of attempts to re-synch the keys. The neighbours our going to think this guy weird! I'll just sit in the car all day
How many attempts did it take you to re-synch the keys.and did it stay working?

you re-synched it and when you do it that sit done.

What you have my man is an electrical fault. this coudl be from a dodgy bit of wioring shorting to a dry solder joint in the BIC somewhere.

if you want to sort it rip everything out and check every wire and all soldered joints.

Cheers I'll try that.
Does the Key FoB door unlocking operation de-active the immobiliser and the fact that it can be inputed everytime manually mean that the immobiliser part of it works perfectly and its the remote central locking that at fault with the wiring in the Ubic.

yes the fob de-activates the immob.

The faults somewhere from the receiver to the BIC.

chec tyhe receivr for dodgy solder joints as well, or if you can swap it with another.
