Hi everyone, im a new kid on the block and just bought my first 19 16 valver! Ive always liked the look of these cars but when I saw a 1991 'J' for sale I just couldnt resist! Its beautiful, and from what I gather ive been quite lucky too cos its in metalic silver (which is rare Im told) and very very good nick, especially compared to others ive seen. It also sports 5 spoke alloys and a K & N. What do I need to keep an eye on though folks as Im told these babies can be dodgy and expensive to mend when things break or go pear shaped!?! Need a remote central locking sensor too if anyone is breaking one?

cheers all

they are generally reliable, when things do go wrong you can fix them yourself and parts can be had quite cheap.

Decent cars though, getting on now though the oldest (16V's) are 13 like yours so you have to expect the odd prob.

Yeah just the usual problems with cars nearly a decade and a half old… one thing I would say is make sure your cooling system is up to scratch as they run blisteringly hot! Also get the cam belt changed if your unsure of its condition or age, you can get a cam belt kit from Renault for around about £90 that includes the belt, a new tensioner and a new idler..

if you love the car so much how come you put it in the For sale section the day before you posted this? i can understand you love it but yet to see the logic in the 2 posts especially as you say you've just got it and love it! why do you want rid of it already? or is it a quick earner?
