i was with direct line for 6 years, didnt declare mods (as i was under 25) which include induction kit, cat back stainless steel exhaust, hillpower chip and 16" alloys. got my renewal through from them, for £790 f/c. decided to shop around, got the same cover + declared the mods + break down cover for £760 with elephant.

I'm over 25, with a 13 year old unmodded bog-standard diesel but still shop around for my Fully comp cover. For the past two years The AA have come up trumps with the lowest quote of any of the major insurers! Just over £200 Very Happy Got a good deal from Directline a few years back but only for the first year!

regarding de-cat, if its a ph1 bnot all models had them, even the 16V's so its not exactly deviating from the standard set up.

Adrian Flux are shite and they are normally not cheap either.

From what I have learned and seen small brokers are good for cover even with mods but you don't get the same amount of luxuries like breakdown cover etc free. And the killer is a lot of the time they want a lump sum for the cover.
