We have a 19 TD which has had an intermitant problem for a few days were you go to start it and it does nothing then go to start it again and it starts and last week the battery light came on and stayed on. Yesterday it decided NO its not going anywhere so I got my jump start out and tried to jump it - nothing still, tested the battery and its got charge so thats not the problem. I thought it could be a flat spot on the starter motor but today we decided to bump start it and now the glowplug light doesn't light up and they were taking a while to warm up so could it be these?
TIA
Bev.

checked the fuses and all seem ok, however I did somehow manage to get to glowplug light to come on momentarily (doesn't come on now again) and it clicks once when trying to start it (I'm guessing this is the starter motor) I really don't want it to be a wiring problem Evil or Very Mad

check the relays under the bonnet for the glowplugs etc.

already checked the big fuses under the bonnet which is what made the light come on. I was surprised at how accurate the haynes manual was for these.

this happened to me a while back, I have a TD as well, check the fuel stop solenoid thing, I was told mine was knackered and replaced it for about 12 quid. And I fitted myself which shows how piss easy it is to do as well!

I got a stop solenoid off ebay for a tenner inc postage!

Would that stop it starting tho'? It only stopped mine from stopping when it was knackered!

If it's a possibility take it off, take the gubbins out from inside (make sure you remember what way round the bits come out then put it back on then try starting it. If it starts that's the problem but you need to use the manual stop lever under the bonnet to stop it or you can stall it.

I haven't got a clue but when my car wouldnt start one morning, I called the AA guy out and he said that was the problem? I got a new one, fitted it and the problem was solved.
