lets say you found a car with 41000 miles on the clock and its a k reg 19 16v with one owner from new and full service history .
would you find the milage a bit dodgy at first and leave it or would you go for it of course if the price is right etc ?

well i would go and look at it, you can probably tell if its genuine by the service history, the owner and the condition of the car itself.

Where have you found this 41000 miler???

even if its clocked judge on condition not mileage/age.

If its a 1 owner it should have all the old tax discs and mot's to back up the mileage.

mot certificates cannot lie.

Apart from the fact they are paper its illegal to tinker with them.

it had been tampered with then, thats prob why it never worked.

The MOT tester has to by law write done the mileage to the nearest mile

MOTs are usually genuine, but what if the clock was turned back before each MOT?

Are all the MOT's from the same garage, maybe the owner knows the mechanic?

Check for heavy wear on seats

heavy wear on the seats, polished steerign wheel rims and faded gearknobs are not accurate guides to mileage.

I wore the numbers away on my 16V knob which I bought new in around 30k miles. Lots of country driving so lots of steering and gearchanges.
