Well, part of me wishes I'd sold it sooner and the other part of me is pretty glad I didn't, tonight on the A64 racing with a Audi 1.8T it was cruncing into gears - got upto about 70 and it wasnt pulling very well so went for 4th and, crunch, nothing. Coasted to a layby and the AA took me home.

Get gears when the engine is off, but the clutch pedal feels very light. Its not the cable or the pedel cos the padle on the box moves when the clutch is depressed but it doesnt feel like its disengaging the clutch. Strange cos it had new box and clutch

Oh well, I've had my £250's worth out of it, and done 3,000 miles of raggage and its still got £45 worth of tax to cash in, I'll easily get £100 for the wheels and various odds and sods so I might even come out with a few quid in my back pocket. If anyone wants it cheap without the alloys and tax they are welcome to it failing that I'll break it for bits and get a lot more then that.

Its a shame, part of me wants to fix it but I told myself once I got her through the MOT I wouldn't spend any more money on it and I'm sticking to that.

Breaking - K reg Renault 19 16v. 118114 miles, 11 months MOT, 10k old Calipers, 3k Old Discs and Pads, Lockwood Dials, Mint PH2 alloys and Caps, yadda yadda.

Onto the next adventure!!

I'm going to have a look at repairing it this weekend, going to drop the box and have a look see and report back - I've never done any engine work before but if I'm going to brake it i'd probably sell the box so it'll have to come out sooner or later, any chance you could do me a quick how to please Chris cos me and Mr Haynes don't get along too well. What tools will I need to drop the box? What should I look for? Can I repair anything?

Its ironic - its exactly 2 months since I got insured on it and its nearly exactly 3,000 miles since I got it off ben - 115198 or something it had on when I bought it. Been ragging round in me dads S40 1.9TD feel so "detached" from the road Sad

It'll start in gear and drive I found today, so does that mean that the clutch release bearing has gone? Strange there was no warning but in fairness I've driven it very hard since I got it!

Ben - Yeah, you can have those back if you want and if you want your debadged boot or owt you can have first dibs.

Chris - Won't be robbing owt but my stereo out of it if you do want it. No rust on it anywhere, not the tiniest bit which is why its such a shame to break it because for a PH2 shell its immaculate and your more then welcome to perform miricals of repair on my driveway!!

Cmon drop the box and get the work done it would be a shame to waste it just because of a clutch explosion, have faith and it will be reborn!
