lol no I really did forget.

Which is surpring since I have done a million of these heads and theres 2 in the shed right now.

theres actually 5 cam bearings but only 3 cam journals, theres 3 hollow bolts and 2 solid bolts. the solid bolt so to the 2 missing journals. The hollow bolts feed the rocker shaft with oil which lubes the rockers and it dribbles on the cam.

get a head gasket set, this includes a headgasket, valve stem oil seals, inlet manifold gasket and exhaust manifold gasket.

Not for the 1.6, only the 1.4 energy's and they are E6J's so they don't even have a CTS threaded hole!

The 1.6 head is different due to the injectors.

Well Head is in a few more pieces now. Went to halfords yesterday and purchased the valve spring compressor. So this morning a spent an hour removing all the valves. They do pop out quite nicely dont they. Anyway In all 2 inlet valves are bent and 2 exaust valves. Will order some more valves tomorrow. Still havent decided if to replace all 8. One thing i am looking for is a torque wrench. Now i have seen them in halfords but dont fancy spending 50 quid on one. There are a few on ebay but i am getting confused by them. Alot say they are micrometer adjustable??????

Any advice..?

Will try and get some pics posted later

micrometer adjustment just means you rotate the handle to adjust the torque, as opposed to the sort you just turn until the correct torwue is reached on a gauge on the end.

i got a nice big one from motorworld for 40quid...

hmm, thats cos that 1.6 head has 5 cam bearings on it, the 1.4's and the early 1.6's have only 3.

If you look at the inlets you can see the diffeence between the 1.6 and the 1.4 carb/spis, they dont have the cut out for the injectors.

Quick update.. Nothing much happening. Parts ordered should arrive monday. Next week should be pretty frantic. But hopufully will have the engine back together and ready to fire up again before friday. Turning the key again for the very first time is gonna be scary as hell.

Quick notes on cost of parts. I decided to replace all the valves and also needed a new thermostat so the cost of parts has reached about £170.

New i meant to ask you something. Cam belt. New one has 2 marks on it to line up with the marks on the pully. No im just checking witchmark goes where. There is a line on its own wich i assume goes to the crank pulley. So i also assume the other line with the triangular marks goes to the cam pulley mark. Am i right in saying that should set the timing back up.

righty when you put the head back on set the timing marks up on the crank pulley and the cam pulley.

the cambelt will have arrows on it, this is to show the direction of travel, it will point to the front of the car.

theres white line on the camblet itself, these mate up with the marks on the cam and crank pulleys.

However some belts have a variety of marks depending on what other application they suit, if theres only 2 marks then it should be ok, if there 6 all different colours then match 2 colours and see if its right.

doe the lines look like these?
