phoned around for a new downpipe, cheapest was £32 incl VAT.

Thats a lot of cash for a wee bit of pipe.

So I took the pipe off to see the damage. I wanted to see if I could repair it.

The flange at the CAT had sheared off the downpipe

not exactly a lot of pipe to it is there!

Looked like I could weld that up and it would be good as new. Out with the grinder and wire brush attachement. This revealed these 2 holes

flange fitted back on, before welding

weld the mofo, crap welding but it stood up to the hammer test. There was better welds on the other side

before you could see a ring of light around the pipe between it and the flange, now its sealed. the weld in the pipe is from the holes, I flicked weld into the holes to fill them.

I fitted it back on and the exhaust sits properly now and its quiet.

Is it pretty? Nope. Is it functional? Yes.

It a damn sight better than spending £32 as well!

Took about 45 mins to do incl fitting and removal etc
