need to sell my p2 hatch and get rid of the escort in the garage and ill be on the lookout for one of these...

what do you mean get rid of the escort! Have you even gone in and looked at it yet?

That hatch is lovely, as always shame about the wheels and the exhaust though.

yes i went in and looked at the escort, got some pics on my phone. No way to get them up at the moment though. Its a 4 door metallic green Ghia. 1600 crossflow engine. Its got wheels which my capri-loving mate Chris says are quite sought after (well, not the wheels, but the chrome rim bits or something). Interior is in very good condition if a bit musty. 98,000 miles iirc. Exterior is ok, very little rust, but a bit of a scrape down one side and the trim strip thing bent up at the back. Vinyl roof is in very good nick, just starting to lift at the seams.

Been playing with Chris' 2.9 Granada over the weekend, and helping him put enormous brakes on his capri. Also replaced all poly bushes and put on a 2.0 laser rear axle on in readiness for the 2.9 transplant (apparently the 2.0 laser diff is the best ratio compromise for the 2.9, according to the capri-sport guy we went and got the bits off. That man knows WAAYY too much about capris.).

During all this Chris was putting ideas into my head about putting a beast engine into the escort and doing it up. I must admit I am tempted.

Still, this is all of course dependant on whether or not the house owners will let me have the bloody thing.

don't bin the escy, you will get cash for it.

You might get a lot of cash for it.

2l laser diff is quite low (not as low as the 1.6 lasers) but its not got an lsd which it really needs. Open diff will just spin the wheel up to easily, no drift action either.

If you clean the escort up and sell it then you will make a mint, the daft engine idea is all very well but its been done to death, original cars are rare these days!

im not really even supposed to have been in the garage mate, i had to hacksaw the thing that the padlock goes through in such a way that it would allow me to bend it out the way so i could go in, then bend it back when i came out so it doesnt look like ive been in. Need to speak to the houseowner to see what the deal is.

The houseowners are a couple of elderly Italians (lots of italian families in St. Albans, including my ex's family, dunno why, although it is an old Roman town). I dont want to antagonise them since they have already caused us a lot of trouble, such as nearly fucking us off the night before we were due to move in.

The escort has one of those little italian flag badge things on the back, so I'm assuming it belongs to the old boy.

yeah im renting, with 2 mates. Paying out that money every month is gutting yes. Thought about buying but I dont know how long im going to be around here (probably no longer than a year), and neither do they.

Garage didnt officially come as part of the deal, although before we moved in they did say they would get rid of the car.
