Hi All

Renault Megane RT 1997 1.6

Could someone please help me with this problem. The engine will not stay on for more than a second when starting cold. It takes more than 10 mins with my foot on the accelerator to get it warm and it drives fine after that. Just feels like the autochoke (if they still use it) just does not kick in. I have changed the CTS still the same problem. The injection warning light also stays on. The worst part is that it does not happen all the time - never happens in the hands of a mechanic. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

check the map sensors rubber pipe, sounds like its broken off, common problem.

Its mounted on the bulkhead, small black box with a green plug, theres a rubber pipe that goes form it to the inlet manifold

Hi Chris, thanks for the advice. Checked the rubber hose - looks fine. Any other suggestions?

clean the ICV on the throttle body, it might be stickign which can cause this problem and the light to come on.

Sorry for such a delayed reply - just managed to try your suggestions out. Cleaned out the ICV and the throttle body, replaced the rubber hose from the MAP sensor to the inlet manifold - just incase. I'll post the results tomm. In the mean time - the warning light is still on. Could this be a more major prob or does the ECU need re-setting?

The cold start problem seems to have gone away - i hope - started fine this morning and after work. The only thing now is the engine idles at 1100 and takes a couple of seconds to get back to 900. Oh yea - the warning light is still on. Any ideas anyone?
