I own a megane coupe which has a immobiliser problem. The key blip opens the doors and sends a strong signal to the reciever located behind the rear view mirror. I then put the key inside the iginition but the red light on the dash board (Immobiliser light) does not go off.

Called the AA to come and have a look and they told me that it looks like a trip to the main dealer to have it re-set. Can't afford this so any body knows of a cheaper way or to actually disable the alarm&immobiliser altogether.

thanks Crying or Very sad

how olds the car?

If its a ph2 then the plip only does the locks but its a transponder key. So you need to look in the aera of the aerial around the ignition switch.

And no you can't disable it as its a bit of a job to say the least and will cost more to do that get it fixed tbh

in case the pm's play up again, the car being an N plate shoudl de-activate the immobilser when you plip the key.

If the engines not cranking over at all I would say the starter solenoid connector has corroded or loosened off. Its easy to reach, white wire round the back of the engine from the gearbox side.

See if the wire has broken off the terminal, if not unplug it then plug it back in and see if it now starts. If so I would replace the terminal for a long term fix or closing it up slightly with pliers should sort it for a while
