Metal block on subframe?

Does anyone know what the big lump of iron bolted to the front crossmember of the subframe is for?

I remember reading someone saying they thought it was a jacking point, but I personally think youâ€™d have to be a moron to jack the car up on that.

And yes only a moron or renault with their funny cradle thing would jack there, it folds easily.

Well yes you could probably jack pretty much anywhere on the entire car if you had a specific cradle made to fit and spread the load properly. Should have said I meant a normal guy with their normal trolley jack.

Thanks for confirming though, Renault dealer's jacking point it is, I'll leave it off. Easiest weight saving ever there!
