Hi,

Its an L Reg Clio 16v in White. Has covered 98k miles. During that time the engine overheated an had a head gasket failure.

The engine was then, skimmed and refurbished apparently with parts of the head replaced as neccesary. Thats all the info i have about the engine. i only took ownership of this car today, purely to split it for spares, its been sitting for a while.

I cannot get the engine started, the battery is dead, i changed the battery and all the dash lights work, fuel pump prime, turn the key and nothing, starter motor doesnt do anythink, i think it could be the Clifford Immobiliser playing up.

Its in "OKish" condition, usual wear and tear. If theres anything you want or would like a better picture of, or a better description of the condition, dont hesitate to PM me.

The gearbox is shagged.

The brakes are rusted and would need a complete overhaul.

And in my opnion the pictures bias it a bit, it looks cleaner in the pics that it is in real life.

Im 18 and goto 6th form, i have little money to attempt to even fix it. But i will have a tinker with it before i let anything go.

Not completely sure, previous owner was a bit of a boy racer, though i bought the car from his parents.

From what i can remember it makes bad noises even in neurtal, and doesnt go into many of the gears.

Ok will do, is that easy to spot, its down by the exhaust manifold isnt it?

When i turn the key and try to start it the engine bay starts to stink of petrol, so something is definately trying to work.

yeah, its easy to see on the clio.

it will stink cos the 5th injector is pumping fuel in, it'll probably be flooded now, so dissconnect ther 5th injecotr power leasd and crank it over with the foot to floor if you get the starter going.

Well ok, ive just been out and taken some early morning snaps, i washed it last night (albeit badly), and the water has frozen meaning i cant open the bonnet (frozen shut Razz ).

Main problems:

- Non starting engine
- Duff gearbox (dunno how duffed tho)
- Brakes corroded badly.
- Rust on rear arch
- Front bumper has seen much better days

From what i can remember tho, the MAP sensor looks knackered and isnt connected to the engine.

heres some pics i took this morning of the brakes & other stuff....

Just had a chat with a mate, dont really think its feasable to get this clio in good condition.

- I have no collateral to buy the parts, i cant simply go and get a new gearbox, id have to save.

- Ive got offers coming out my ears for parts.

- Cant afford to MOT it, then get insureance to TAX it. (hey whats a car worth without MOT or TAX? Not alot)

- I want to spend money on my much better condition (and working), Blue 16v, than plough money into this white one.

- The car really isnt in as good condition as the pictures make out.
