I am failing to see whats wrong with the brakes, that will clean off after a few miles, I see discs like that on cars that have sat for a week.

its a bit tatty but still sortable.

But if you can break it then break it.

Oh right, see i thought those brakes had had it.

Ill see if i can get the engine started...

I cant see the starter motor, do i have to get at it from above or below the car?

Anyone have any pictures, cos i really dont know what im looking at Razz

above, look at the gearbox side of the engine, down the back you can see where the starter bolts to the box. Feel round the back of the starter towards the bulkhead, you shoudl feel a white white, thats the solenoid wire.

if you feel a bare spade on the starter the wire has fallen off.

yuo shoudl be, the white wire is easy to feel as it feels funny

Ok, think i found it, its only a thin white wire right?

If so then it was firmly connected to something, and hadnt fallen off. Maybe corrosion has stopped electrcity from flowing through it?

its not that thin, its thick compared to other engine bay wiring. wiggle the spade and try and start it. I normally have to squash it with pliers on meganes to get them workign again.

Pulled it on and off, wiggled it, nothing no joy. All the little relays click but nothing from the starter motor.

charge the battery up to if you aint got the amps in the battery the starter wont turn

Lol its funny you say that....

I used the battery from my fully working Blue 16v.

Now after putting the battery back my blue car dont start either. It clicks loudly once when you turn the ignition, then again when you release it.

You may have drained the battery from trying to start the other car too much.

Thankfully my blue clio was on a hill and managed to bump start it, took it for a 20 mile run, but the battery still wont turn the motor over.

Looks like im off to get a new battery Razz

20 miles isn't a long time to try and charge a battery back up!

a new one never does any harm though!

also have you tried to turn it over with a spanner/socket on the crank bolt??

Ok tryed hitting the starter motor with a hammer this morning, must have done it for about 5 minutes.

No change.

Dont know about this crank bolt business, i cant jack the car up where it is at the mo, and i cant fit under the car.
