As well as cars and mountain biking, im also into radio control models. Been at it since my early teens.

Heres a few of my models:

Ultimate slim:

being built

ready to go! Its actually a transparent red, not pink as it appears.
This plane is a beast, especially when you use a bigger engine than it was ever intended for Smile

Rapier

Image
This one is 'a bit quick'

Capiche 50

Image
My current fave plane, based on the full size french CAP232 world aerobatic champion aircraft.

a video of the capiche in action:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/etheldredas/models/capiche%20hover.mpeg

bit big, 4.5 megs, but its a good 'un

Space Baron S helicopter

Image

getting a bit old now, but still a good heli
a video of the heli in flight, not a very good one, but the only one i have:

The beauty of model flying is that i accumulated all the engines/radio/other equipment i will ever need years ago so each new plane costs me about £30 in materials.

Anyone else ever dabbled?

my dad was into them big style and I was forced into them. I even won best newcomer at the cumbernauld model flying club and got a 30 quid gift cert for a model shop which my dad spent.

i was always more into the cars.

he had planes, choppers all sorts, he used to have some big un's that carried a camcorder, now remember when my parents were still together it was back in the 80's so video cameras were not small things.

i was also used due to being small thus having small arms to feed the cables to the rear fin and so on.

he used to have a leccy chopper and a petrol one, the leccy one was a bit crap but the petrol one was great.

I am much more a car man myself, I still have a tamiya TA02 chassis which used to have an escort cossie body, so I can honestly say I have an escort cossie.

Used to have a Kyosho petrol thing that went over 50mph, it also when my dad stole the controls from me went through 3 fences at full tilt.

very good looking models neal, i am well impressed.

ive been into a lot of modelling, mostly static, like planes, tanks, etc....figures, the little warhammer ones (cant play the game tho its got far to many rules) big models like from the films....i recently got hold of a model of predator that is 28" high!!! its mad...yet to assemble and paint that one.....and got an alien 3 dogburster awaiting assembly and painting too.....im more into thepainting side of things.

i nearly got into model planes but didnt in the end as i wouldnt be able to bare spending ages making them up and then crashing them inevitably.

one thing i will get round to one day tho is i wanna make a pulsejet....not sure what to stick it on....i wanted to put it on a model speedboat...they sound wicked. got it all drawn up, but just another one of those things i never get round to actually doin.

ive had a few RC cars, a nice tamiya leccy one with escort cossie body and a petrol one...that needs a rebuild lol

yeah i started out racing 1/10 electric off road cars before the planes. Have had at one time or another:

Tamiya Madcap
Tamiya Manta Ray
Kyosho Optima Mid (2 of them in fact, one long wheelbase, one short)
Schumacher Cougar 2
Losi XX

as a kid on very limited budget though it was so hard to be competitive, whoever has the most money to spend buying the best batteries, the best motors etc, nearly always wins. Thats whats good about planes, money doesnt really come into it even when you do compete.

JB..Ive done a fair few Tamiya F1 and LeMans cars. Currently building the 1/24 Airfix Harrier GR3 on the snide at work when noones about. Smile Also, i still have a half finished warhammer 20k pedator annihilator tank somewhere that i was doing for a mate. Would love to see your predator and alien models! Got any pics?

Ive got a couple of RC cars. Got a Tamiya 4wd nitro (the best 1 they done a few years back witht the duralumin chassis) running a 15 OS race engine and 2-speed transmission. also got a beast of an RC car.... a 1:5 scale alfa 155 with a 24cc engine. its about 5-6BHP (a 50cc moped is around 3Bhp) and it fuckin flies. Its about a metre long, i tried racing it, but it was a bastard cos you had select the right tyre compound, then warm the tyres up properly to get any grip!! all fun tho

I used to use it in large empty carparks. would post a couple of pics, but its at my parents in Carlisle. 'tis a beast tho...will do 90mph. You may not believe this but where i used to (try and) race it, the quickest car there was clocked at 121 mph!!

With them its all in the painting which is great if its you thing, I like lots of pieces so you feel like you have done something.

yes these models are not about the complexity of building them its about painting, i like building complex models but also i enjoy painting them.

i keep meaning to try and find a model of a V8...i saw one once...all see thru, totally working model...looked good.
