I had my head checked out on my valver due to the headgasket popping last Friday check my other post, She only lasted half an hour
I was going to have it skimmed and pressure tested. I have found that head is warped, there a quite few pits, most of the valves in the head move about in the valve liners.

Now the head is fit for the bin, now I am stuck I have been working on the car for the last four months and she gave up in the first half an hour on the day she got back on the road.

I have come too far to give up now.

My mates at the garage where I used to work quoted me 400+ to have the head sorted out with all new valve liners, skim, the lot.

I don,t think it is worth spending all the money just for the head any of you guys can offer me a head or what is the best way to sort it please help me save her from going to the scrap yard to die.

i have 2 spare head's mate 1 was worked on by Chris H and has yet to be fitted to a car. the other is a standard one.

you can have the standard one for £50 + p&p or likewise you can have the pollished and ported one for £200 + P&P(which is less than chris charged me for the work to the head)

used original valves as they were good but were lapped in. do you mean valve seats? dont think so but they can be do cheaply.

i am pretty sure you can have your head rebuilt for less that 400 quid sounds like a rip off. you can recondition your own tappets do a search on it which would save you some money

on ebay at the moment is a 16v head that has been recondtioned but has no valvaes or tappets only a tenner at the mo lat time i looked

Cleaned all of the followers and primed them fitted the cams back on put the head back on the block toque the bolts up as I was staring to put on the new timing belt it started to rain. never mind start again in the morning depends on weather hoping to finish it

I have finish my head gasket last Friday.

When running the engine started to make a very loud screeching noise been scratching my head over the weekend what the hell is that.

Took the cam cover off the cam belt is trying to escape off the pulleys. Thank god I did not take the car for a drive all that work done to the head would have gone to scrap.

It now needs a need a new cam kit had a price of the local motor factors £109 that's steep any one got a spare cam kit lying around ????

you sure it needs kit? you sure your not just a muppet and the tensioners not seated over the allen key bolt where it pivots?

Its not the first time I have seen that, for some reason the diesel meganes seem to have it happen very often. Same set up on them.

all the tensioners are as they should be I have set the tension on the belt 3 times tight as possible its still screeching and trying to escape of the pulleys. What do you think Chris

you 100% sure its swinging on the allen headed bolt

if its the tensioners thats causing it to do this then there woudl be a good 4/5 mm of play and they would make a hell of a noise when spinning.

Also is the aux belt pully on and tightened right up?
