I am not sure if the tensioner is swinging the aux belt is tight as possible but I don't understand that the cambelt is trying to come off so I think it would be best to fit a new cam kit just for a piece of mind as I renewed the gasket and and rebuilt the head I don't want to be flying down the dual and the belt would ether come off or snap.

yeah but if you don;t fit the tensioner back on right again its gonan do the same.

I never asked about the aux belt, I asked about its pulley on the crank.

The aux pulley is torqued up 90 Nm as its says in the manual I will check the tensioner again tomorrow if you are right and I'm a muppet.

hey Chris I checked out the tensioner it was fitted fine but had it off to check it out the bearings have gone on it.

It rattles and quite stiff when I turn it by hand and there is a bit of play in it.

So I will replace the upper tensioner and put on another belt as the new one has started to fray don't want to risk it.

New ones usually are stiff...not excessivley stiff but enough not to really spin freely when you kinda spin it by hand and let go.

The new belt if fraying? Get a pic, but it could be that its been rubbing on something...like a misfitted tensioner for example.

my toque wrench is knacked the settings are all over the place I could set it to 25 Nm but is would be something like 15 Nm. I'm going to get a new one tomorrow.

What do you think I should do now get a new headgasket and the head bolts???

did you angle tighten them up? many people have forgotten to to angle tighten them and only down them up to 25nm or so! cough*wicked neo*cough

if it needs nipped up then theres a chance you can get away with just tightening the bolts up
