most of them do that, barely turn over common problem.

my old blue hatch would struggle to turn it over, would take about 5-10 seconds to do 1 turn, after that it just cranked and started.

the starter situation isn't unusual.

Check the oil etc in the engine to make sure theres no issues there.

is this engine re-built or a 2nd hand one?

when i bought it i was told it had been rebuilt about 50,000 ago, recently had a cambelt change etc, his gearbox went hence why he broke the car, but it was going well, its just yesterday it seemed to be slower, didnt rev as freely, i was listening to the block last night, and there seemed to be a small metallic sound when the throttle was bliped, was confused about this, but as i hadnt listened to the block before, i thought it may have been normal for these engines, may have been a water pump etc.

well i have ti gi and find where i left the car first! i got that pissy with it, its probly still unlocked, abandoned on a side street somewhere, i'll get it towed home, try and bump start it on the way home and see what happens. then as you said, i'll check all the usual items, then maybe pull the sump off and have a gander.

when it was running the oil pressure was fine, the oil level was again fine, i only changed the rocker cover last night, and theres no contamination of the oil.

yea sods law, but i cant let that happen to me everytime i turn the engine off, ive got some decent terminals to put on the battery as weel, and maybe try and get hold of a new starter.

ummm i cant remember with out having a look, but i know that i can see the starter if i look through the manifold so it probly doesnt.

i may have to invest in some main bearings and big ends, just to be sure. but im probly going to drain the oil, and give it some nice amsoil synthetic see if it helps the situation.

shaping isnt a problem! ive been making all sorts of things out of ally since ive been working at revingtons, made a handlebar guard for the quad bikes, took me a while to got it perfect, but its looks good.

wel it drove home fine, stalled once, i'll give the ICV a good clean, that may solve it, and i will give the throttle body a clean aswell.
