any of you retro members can point me to any good threads or advice about setting up my F7P engine I have not long finished work on my engine since the head gasket went. Everthing is running as it should be just want to make sure that the TP is set right and the screw on the top TB is set. don,t want to pay someone to do it as I have payed a lot of money on her already.

screw shoudl be screwed right in ont he top.

TPS shoudl be fine.

its only when pillocks decide to tweak or tune their cars do they go wrong.

The guy who I bought the car off was pillock. When I had the head off I have found headbolt number 5 was not torqued up I could screw it out by hand without using my breaker bar. The head gasket was quite new the head and block surface still had some of the old headgasket before this one. Also there was one bolt on the bottom of the inlet manifold and no gasket bettween the TB and the inlet. the cap is off on the screw on top of the TB so some muppet has touched it.

Everything is back as it should just want to know everything is set right.

Also have had a good run out her but she does not feel that she is pulling 137bhp there is ony a K&N and a full scorpion system with the cat. all the engine bits have been replaced plugs, dis cap, rotor arm, HT leads, new cat, new oxygen sensor surely she can pull a lot better wish one of you valver experts could take her for a spin and see for yourself.

sadly about 90 % of them are down on power a good bit these days.

Theres a load of reasons for this. from plain knackered engines to fuel delivery and electrical problems.

The thing is I am in a bit of a pickle I have grown very fond of the phase 1 r19 16v.

I have plans to restore a series 1 rs turbo I have thousands of pounds worth of parts in my shed ready to build a concourse s1 like samco hoses mint recaro,s chrome engine detailing and lots of brand new genuine ford parts some you can not get hold of any more as I have been in the rs owners club took me three years to get hold of it all.

Thinking about selling it all and buy a phase 1 r19 16v and convert it to a williams or megan engine running a turbo but still fond of the s1.

I like old skool stealth approach put my put my right food down and get the f**k out of here.

I only bought my phase 2 valver as it was one of those cars I wanted to drive before I die type of thing and this site has given me some good advice to get it on the road.

I think I wait till after christmas to see how I feel then.

all ph2 owners eventua;;y see the ph1 as the better car.

bit like S1 and S2 RST's. S2 has the watercooled turbo and leccy windows etc, the S1 doesn;t its more raw, much better.

hey chris the s1 has leccy windows, sunroof, boot popper they brought out the custom version on a C plate the s1 has better gearbox than the s2 but the brakes are not very good as the s2. when you hit 4000 revs you will hear the turbo whistling as long the turbo is an airesearch and the engine is in good nick on the s1 thats why I love them.

Some do some don't rst engines don't last forever they need to be rebuilt all the time by a specialist most people bin the blocks an change them to the
zetec block using the cvh head they call them zvh conversion as the zetec block is stronger. Only trouble with the cvh turbo if you want to run 200bhp+ you got to lower the compression as the pistons will melt.

yeah I know, used to do the zvh conversions. Thus the blocks out the back, had loads of heads etc as well.

My mate just aquired a S2 RST, has got the 1.8 Zetec bottom end.

Thing flys its a real hoot to drive, but dam is it dated, even a valver looks futuristic on the interior compared to one.

The engines are all noisy and rattly aswell from what ive seen. Turbos the only thing they got going for em Razz

Never owned an RST only fords I have owned are sierras, few escorts Y plate XR3 my fav, got the orion, and a few others I cannae mind.

Chances are if theres a car I have owned/driven/worked on it.

They ran well enough and continue to do so.
