Does anyone know where I can get a new driveshaft from? It's a r19 16v p2 and the LH CV joint needs replacing. Also, are the LH and RH shafts identical up to the gearbox, and would they come with the CV gaiter?
I can't see the right one listed in GSF catalogue, and Euros seem to be out of stock. |

dursley scrappy has a ph1 hatch with some nice shafts on it.... |

Was hoping not to have to drive if poss... needs this plus a new front sus spring since the bottom 1/2 a coil broke off (happened on my last r19 too at the same age), plus it's WELL overdue a cambelt (paraniod, paranoid...)
Also, not sure if there'll be a clash between my ABS stuff and that on an older model - in fact, I haven't had a chance to check out what ABS I've got on mine yet. It's an April 1995 model  |

Bosch ABS so you need an ABS shaft or a very clean used one and a new ring to fit on it.
Shame your so far away as I would have sorted it all out for you. |

I'm starting to think I will do it myself, providing I can get my hands on a new shaft from somewhere...
I did suspect I might have the Bosch ABS, my Haynes manual (1994) helpfully washes its hands of the whole issue so no help there.
I'll definitely need a new ABS ring then? |

if you can get the old one off in 1 piece you won;t need a new one. but they are normally in a bad way |

Yeah i found out there was, 26 or 48 teeth or something. after LOOKING at my car now (in daylight too, a novelty), i don't think it has either - no ABS... 
So that increases my chances of finding a new one on the shelf in bristol tomorrow at least |

lol, we all start somewhere.
I mind when i knew nothing about cars, but being a tight 17 year old i forced myself to learn as garages were far too expensive.
now i'm like mobile mechanic for my family. lol (just like chris is for me when i get out of my deapth. lol) |

if you avent got ABS you can use any driveshaft |

now i dont no about that i ment all valver ones and fat or thin ones, i find the fatter one's to be the best imo |

the valver shaft is longer than all the other ones. so you cant use the 1.4 shaft or it will break in no time.
you can use any "valver" shaft on a non ABS modle. |
