well its been nearly 5 months since I bought myself a new car.

I also said the next car I get would be a diesel and preferably an estate.

Well for some reason I say these things and as if by magic just as I forget about what I said I get offered cars.

So I shall soon be the proud owner of a mk2 astra diesel estate. oh yes I am going to be tha daddy in that bad boy.

Been offered it for a ton cos its me, the boys got himself a new mk5 td escort.

Its dark blue, 1.8 non turbo abnd I think its the VX lump not the better isuzu effort, J plater. Slow, really slow.

needs a new downpipe (supplied) and a new passenger wing, lost to rust, the usual vx fate.

No tax but a months mot, cannae moan.

Need to find out the specs of the beast now! lol

came across these figures

1700cc, 82mm bore, 79.5mm stroke, 57bhp~4600rpm, 77bhp~2500rpm

Oh yeah its a power house! lol

Need to find out the torque and MPG.

Still turn up the fueling and it will be quicker.

cos I can!

Nah I said the next car I buy for myself (meganes hers, she owes me cash for it) will be a diesel estate/van, so the diesel estate it is.

I do lots of miles and I humpf a lot of crap about. So a diesel is needed and I am not happy chucking all sorts of rubbish in the 19.

With the astra I can chuck oily engines etc ion and not give a stuff. I also go to the scrappies and tip often dumping so the astra's ideal.

Only prob is the lack of power. Still I can sort that, it might be the low blow version which for some reason isn't called a td, but I can stick the isuzu 1.7td lump in it.

I can't remember if it has a towbar which would be great as well.

yep, I will wash it and thats about it!

The td astras aren't bad, an ex's dad had an astra td estate, mk4, I used to drive it up and down to dundee, think the highest I managed was about 110.
