the thing with the spade terminal is the ignition suppressor.

Crank sensor should be about 250 ohms on it.

you'll have to excuse me for being dumb, what is the primary function of the suppressor? am i looking for it to be doing anything that could affct the spark?

if i have good voltage going into the coild would i be safe to assume the coil in 'kin knackered?

to check the resistance on the crank sensor would we need to be cranking the engine?

cheers for the pointers chris it is all appreciated!

to suppress electrical noise which affects ECU signals and makes the radio hum/crackle

just unplug the sensor and check the resistance. if you have a scope do it whilst scranking, the wave forms should be nice and square

you want an ECU come and get one or 2 for free plus you can get your self some other usefull bits as well. you can then also look at my home made installation and see how it should be done.
