right another weird thing i heard from my uncle,he used to work as a mechanic for couple years .he told me to put about a litre of engine oil in to my fuel tank and top it up with fuel which will cleanand lubricate the cylinders and many other components like throttle body ,injectors etc .
any ideas on this one ? is he right or being a dick ?
and what about that redex stuff in halfords ? there are 2 types ,one for carbs and the other for the engines with inj. which one of them can i use for r19 1.8 rt SPI ?

being a dick, no offence.

redex, it can work but usually not much. You can use either for your car.

The best stuff is a proper purge, basically the fuel lines are dissconnected and the purge trank and its contents plugged into the TB and the engine is run on the special brew, it does reduce emmisions and it can clean the back of the valve heads if they are clogged with oily crud.

yep it does.

I can't recall the name of it but it does improve things.

A similar purge setup is used on diesels and the difference on diesels is more marked.
