The exec engine is a good engine. Although it has 1 issue which Doc reminded me of.

It had an oil leak, now this seemed to have stopped and thats why i forgot about it. He was buying the engine and of course it started again.

I had a look and couldn't say with 100% accuracy what was causing the leak, it looked to be coming from around the aux shaft housing area, it also dripped from behind the bottom pully out of the cambelt cover.

Anyway after the weekends adventure with doc I went tonight down and whipped the mofo out of the beast.

Whipped the cambelt cover off and spotted the cam seals, this pic you can see them and the fact I am amazing and have the aux pulley bolt out

the leaks not from here its further north.

yep these bad boys, look at the state of that!

[img:567:378:051dc34bdc]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20leak%2007.jpg[/img:051dc34bdc]

knocked them out

[img:567:378:051dc34bdc]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20leak%2008.jpg[/img:051dc34bdc]

[img:567:378:051dc34bdc]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20leak%2009.jpg[/img:051dc34bdc]

i need to clean the engine up and then fit new seals.

So whats the problem? Well there are 2 sizes of seal, the wrong sized seal has been used thus the oil leak! So that mess was created cos someone couldn't be arsed getting the right seals.

Anyway easy fix and the engines a minter anyway so will be sorted tomorrow hopefully.

got the sealant off, what a bugger of a job that was. New seals are fitted and are correct!

Just need to finish cleaning the thing up and fit a new cambelt.

Theres no drain plug on the block as its a later enguine, I hate these versions! Can't clean the water gallery out without popping a core plug.

So need a core plug as well.

no thats the crank lockign pin hole.

The coolant gallery drain plug is round the back under the oil pressure gauge sender.

That engine is out of the exec, ph2 later type stat housing and block.

What's different about the ph2 block?

casting is slightly different. Also like the later 2 litre blocks (8 and 16V) theres no drain plig.

Thats why on dialogies it asks for engine number after or before then depending on what you pick you might get asked it again with a different series of numbers.

yeah the bigger 42 mm seal.

Random heads have the bigger size, dunno if they made them to the smaller size and then maybe opened them out due to poor castings or what.

today I cleaned up the cambelt covers

[img:378:567:70da3ac0f1]http://www.renault-turbo.com/chris/exec%20cambelt%20cover%20cleaned.jpg[/img:70da3ac0f1]

much nicer! Only put on tempo as a new crank seal and the blast down has yet to happen.

Also whilst poking about some of you may remember the oil light stopped working thus the temp light and oil level never worked either. So I stuck a cable in to bypass it, I knew it was a broken wire somewhere, well today I found it.

3 wires are affected only the oil pressure one is broken. So all 3 will have new sections let in

aye, will get that oil seal ordered up for you and it will be scrubbed down. You know I don't hand out shite engines!

Also took the end cover off the box, its immaculate and the nut and bolt down up solid, no wear at all, the engine and box are both very sweet.

Shame the ph2 body can't match the running gear!
