righty the black exec started with this problem, although in that the water light and oil level don't work.

Now I have just awoken the blue chammy from its slumber. Oil filter was last change don 18/11/04 and in that time well to be more specific, between then and feb 05 its done 4k. Since then its been out twice with neal and JB and then with doc.

Anyway started up first tiem as expected.

However the oil light and the oil level don't work.

Senders are ok.

By not working the lights don't come on and on the oil level the light showing the level gauyge doesn't come on and the needles don't move.

Any suggestions or do I need to go this one alone? It says wiring issue to me but I can't be arsed with open loom surgery.

yep pressure works fine.

I am thinking dash fault, but to affect both cars?

level and oil on different circuits, but the level only come son before th engine starts then it switches to pressure, so theres obviously a circuit broken and made somewhere.

If its affecting 2 cars it could be a virus spread by the renaultsport spider Wink

I'm guessing damp in the clocks causing corrosion, seems resonable givin the sort of weather you've been having, especially when they've been lying up

if it was in the clocks then the needles wouldn't move which they do!

black car the oil light, water light and oil level gauge and its light don't work.

short out the water sender and the water light comes on, not tried the oil sender as its out the way but the bulbs good cos I checked them.

The oil gauge with the igniotion on moves a few mm but the orange and red line lights doesn't come on and it doesn;t display the level.

All the fuses are ok and the wiring checks out at the aux box etc, which means loom (I can picture that loom neal had) of a dodg dash ignition feed.

handbrake light and alt light etc work as they should.

well after some detective work I think there will need to be some dash surgery.

Checked the wiring from the sender to brown plug, all ok.

So popped the dash display out (theres digi dash connectors in there btw) so I popped in a ph1 digi dash and a 1.4 dash both oof which work and no change.

Put the original back in and poke abotu in the fuse box, I pulled out 2 relays which i fitted the other week as accordign to haynes they are not nbeeded, but putting them bboth back in has enabled the headlight bulb on the dash to work.

with the engine ruinning and turning on the lights makes the oil pressure gauge climb aboug 2mm.

dodgy earth methinks in the dash loom.

I hate wiring problems! Rolling Eyes

Sorry nothing of any intelligence to add here....suppose its just fault finding and following the wiring to where it goes.

I know where the wiring goes, thats the problem. its not affecting the cars running so it can stay as it is for a while!

after more jiggling and checking the loom is dodgy on the engine side.

the wire has broken somewhere, as theres no continuity. Also checking my ph1's the wire is about twice as thick as on the ph2!

earth the pin at the plug and the oil light comes on as does the water light and the oil level gauge works.

So that means I need to sort out the wire which means to do it properly pulling the rad out I can;t be arsed.
