i decided to comfort my CV boot woes with FOOD

get a tortilla wrap....add tuna, grated cheese and some sort of sauce...i recommend thousand island or mayo or ketchup or both....roll it up...whack it in the microwave for 30 secs so the cheese melts...mmmmmmmmm

nearly as good as :...

chicken breast (or turkey) covered in lemon jiuce, rol it in cejun dusting (or mexican spicy bits for wedges) wrap the breast in bacon...stick the whole lot in the george until bacon crispy...roll it up in a tortilla with mayo.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I too enjoy a wrap. Old elpasso gear from ASDA is cheap at the mo and wee stocked up on it, doesn't last long. I mucxh through meat like chicken breast quicker than you can buy it!

Anyway always fancied going to Prague, dirt cheap, gorgeous east european women and strange cars.

never been to prague....i fancy goin to russia...dont know wy...with a guide obviously so i dont end up in mafia street....

i suppose strangest place ive been is iceland...whilst there i went up a volcano on a ski-bike (jet ski on snow??) swam in a blue lagoon...volcanicly heated...amazing....i have offically had one foot in europe and one foot in america! as the continents split thru iceland...bubbly mud...etc etc

feckin cold tho....wore all my clothes that i took for the week all in one go every day

yeah fancy russia to. I always fancied driving to china from her through europe and russia. Would be a laugh.

Always wanted to visit iceland as well. You were probably just beign a fairy, bet its colder in glasgow that there.

aye thats ma thing, nothing like the great outdoors is there!

Some bonny scenery up here.

Dunno if you lot get this but its on ITV early int he mornign and is a programme from the 70's, its called Wiers Way, Tom Wier walks all over scotland and shows you the mountains, famous places (like where bonnie prince charlie hid etc) and cities (its amazing how much edinburgh has changed). Great programme.

Thats why I try and get some of you lot up here to go camping or something.

retro renault goes camping!!! i like the sound of it...i wud like to get some of them munroes under my belt....

closest i got to me is the brecon beacons which is pretty good but nowhere near the scale of the highlands...

gunna go up to snowdon when i get some holidays...have to stay there..bit too far to drive, climb, drive home in one day..theres a good knife edge section im lookin fwd to...well dodgey

I know loads of scottish roads the likes of which even you Welsh have never seen.

Closet decent hill to me would be Ben Lomond, 45mins away at a leisurly pace.

Where I am (Glasgow) is ideal, I am near the decent scenery, the east coast where George lives (Edinburgh) is absolutely crap, he has to head my way to get near to any lochs, hills etc.

The good thing is to get to these places you have to drive on great roads.

the Czech Republic (it's not called Czechoslovakia anymore Wink

) is part of the EU since May 1st. haven't been there this year though.

many people use to fill their cars up and get cheap haircuts right behind the border, it's way cheaper there.

anyway, Prague is a right nightmare to drive through. loads of road building sites, crappy and unreadable signs all over the place and Czech drivers in their old Skodas, Ladas etc... on the motorway the speed limit is 130kph, but most people will happily overtake you at close to 150 or 160kph.
I usually try to avoid speeding when abroad, so I stayed at 130.

the city of Prague is absolutely beautiful though. we've always had great weather and the buildings and atmosphere is georgous.
Pilsen is a nice town too, in fact it's the birth town of - suprise - Pilsener beer Smile

Czech Republic is the country with the highest beer consumption per head in Europe IIRC. I don't particularly like Pilsner beer, but they have some other tasty stuff there too.

I knew a few people that went there and went to Pilsner, the opera house apparently is a gothic work of art, I like nice buildings.

I assume the guardhouses at the border are now gone?

Hotel in pilsner which is equal to the hilton was 20quid a night apparently.

there are still guardhouses at the borders but no more customs. the customs are mobile operating groups now and can stop you within a certain range of the border. that's because there are still limits on what you can bring in and out of the country (cigarettes, alcohol).

they basically only check your ID at the border now until the Czech Republic signs the Schengen treaty. then it will be just like going from France to Belgium for example, just a sign on the road saying you just left the country.

hotels are dead cheap, as are restaurants, especially in rural areas. and the food is absolutely great!!!
can't remember the Pilsen opera house but I remember they had a huge cathedral. and the Pilsen brewery of course with rather large cellars where the beer is stored (prolly just like whiskey in Scotland LOL Wink
