well what you lot up to today?

I need to try and get the pc working properly again, my mum arsed it up.

I also have to fit a new belt onto a pug 106 diesel, and its raining, but need to do it.

I also stupidly agreed to do the gearbox on a vectra yesterday when doc was here. I said 100 quid.

Found out trade time is 6 hours and the subframe has to come off. arse.

Tbh you were on the spot but even I thought that was cheap. I couldnt imagine the box being able to come out on its own.

well I have finished the aux belt on the pug, have been out there letting it run for 20 or so mins, alt's chanrging fine and it started up again, so looks to be all good, will need to be driven a bit to get the battery back up to full charge though.

On the older vauxhalls yo ujust driopped it otu the bottom.

On the vectra you still drop it out the bottom, but to do so you have to support the engine from above and remove the subframe!

Think i might dingy him though, hes fucked me about plenty of times. And like I said the white one has to go first.

Aye, dingy him, don't work for nothing mate.

He's not realy going to buy the white one, he's umming and arrghing over the window and column. This waiting to sell the mondeo is bollocks

As you so clearly put it yesterday mate, "Dumbo's" I've seen the type before, there like E-bay dreamers, something is bound to come up that stops him buying it.

Best thing you can do is pop the column out so a window can be fit, that won't cost you anything and will improve the chances of selling the car.

The chamade has a knackered front wheel bearing. Yesterday i went to swap the hub and bearing off my hatch onto the chamade, only to find that the hatch hub doesnt have the bit on it for the chammy's ABS sensor to screw into. Should have seen that coming but there you go. So if i swap the hatch's hub onto the chamade, I have to ditch the ABS. I was going to remove the ABS system from the chammy anyway (because it doesnt work, but if it did work i would keep it) but it could be that the fucked wheel bearing is what is stopping it working. The only way ill know is to get a new bearing pressed in and see. Bit of a paradoxical situation really.

Oh well, serves me right for trying to poach bits from one car to sort the other instead of just doing it properly. Rolling Eyes

How much to press out/in a bearing? Tenner?

well in a bit i am gonna do the front garden, chop down the mini jungle it has become, clean out the spark plug well and clean the plugs on the chammy and then get it into the garden.

then i need to have a look at the earthing on the ph2 hatch, its got a brand new battery on it and would not start the car after only doing 50 miles, had the old battery on charge so whacked that onto the car and it started straight away, went to start it this morning and its flat again so i got a bad drain on the battery somewhere.

depends matey. I used to get it done for a fiver at an arsy garage but the place I go to for mot's lets me use the press myself for free.

a lot of places will not let you do it as they want the car and to supply it all.

look for a small garage or at least a non commercial one, no kwik fits, autocentres, etc.

I've just finished giving the hatch a quick wash over, I'm just about to jump in the shower and then go off to Uni to see if the useless wankers have fixed my course clash and if not pick an alternative that I don't really wanna do.

Actually, on second thoughts, the wheel bearing cant be whats causing the ABS to fault, the ABS light comes on as soon as I turn the key, before the car is even moving. What is the resistance of the ABS sensors meant to be? Any other common problems with the Bosch system to check for? I figure i should at least make a token effort to save the ABS before condemning it, seeing as its a life saving piece of equipment when working. Rolling Eyes

if coolants been spille dall over the thing then its gonna have corroded relays and maybe a fecked ABS ECU

can't recal the resistance but they shoudl all be the same, if you have 3 at 500 ohms then one at 150 then the 150 is duff.

check the relays though.

i had a bearing pressed in for a fiver other day in one garage...tenner in another!

i had removed old bearing tho, so tenner i would expect, no more if they have to press old out.

ive just been to uni...sort of my first proper day, but they are still sorting things out, but i go back in at 2 for my first proper lecture.....CAD lol...gunna teach me how to draft and dimension....ive only been doin that for the last, oh, 7 years. still i find it fun.

think i need to change water pump on mine...somethings makin that kinda hollow wooshing, empty dry bearing sound. like the noise you make when you are pretending to be a crowd cheering...lol, if u know what i mean.

Thanks. Assuming that turns out to be the problem, were all renaults of the same era (lagunas etc) fitted with the same Bosch system? How about other makes? Or do I have to hunt down an actual Bosch ABS equipped 19 16v to nick the bits i need?

got the chammy starting on the key now Smile

the previous owner had unplugged one of the live feeds which conencts to the aftermarket alarm which prevented the car starting on the key.

sorted the oil leak, rocker cover gasket was away, HT leads were fucked so put on my spare set with new rotor arm and dizzy cover, cleaned the plug well and cleaned the plugs.
started on the key first time Smile

engine sounds really sweet now it has some oil in it, it was almost dry when i checked the dip stick this morning.
just need to get the puncture sorted on the passenger side front tyre and whack it in for an mot.

no cos it aint legal, no mot, tax or insurance on it

its going in the front garden either this afternoon or tomorrow morning

it needs a major clean, umpteen dead spiders in the engine bay, cobwebs all over the place, so gonna get all the interior out of it and clean clean clean

just came from work looking at the time ,realised the feckin day is over allready Mad

my battery seems to be playing up for the last 3 days,it wont start up even though all the dash electrics come up .i had to literally push the car on a flat road and jump in it after catching a bit of a speed and stick it in the 2nd to be able to start up .not funny Mad

is it new battery time now or what ?
